Fame and Fortune Could Be Yours!



1. The Maryland Society, Sons of American Revolution George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest. Students write an essay about an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independent or the framing of the United States Constitution. The essay must include at least 5 references and be between 800 and 1,200 words. Local, state and national winners can earn up to $2,000. 2. The State of Maryland International Reading Association Council and Frederick County Reading Council are sponsoring the 2012-2013 Young Author Contest. Last year, Frederick County middle and high school students dominated in the state competition. Students may submit an original short story or poem. Each school sends its winner to the county competition. County winners go on to compete at the state level.
